You Are Not Just a Parent, You Are a Badass: My Favorite Self-Help Book of All Time
Discover the fearless, life-changing wisdom of Jen Sincero’s ‘You Are a Badass’ and unleash your inner badassery to create the extraordinary life you’ve always desired.
My sister insisted that I read this book. Put off by the cheesy title and my lack of time to read it, it sat on my dresser for months. Finally, I gave it back and told her I just didn’t have the time. I promised I would try and listen to it instead so, I downloaded it on Audible. And of course! it ended up being the most inspirational and life-changing thing I’ve ever done. I should’ve just read the damn book when she gave it to me the first time.
It’s called, You are a Badass by Jen Sincero. Yes, it's a self-help book, that’s hilarious. It basically shifts your mindset so you start to understand how fucked up you are because of the way you were raised, and how that mindset has to change in order for your life to change. The real kicker is the last chapter, where she talks about money. This led to her second book, You are a Badass at Making Money. This book completely changed my perspective on money and taught me how to have an abundance mindset versus lacking. I think about both of these books, actually now, all three of her books all the freakin time.
The main points that I got out of the books are:
Being in a constant state of gratitude is the most powerful way to transformation.
You have to spend money to make it.
You have to give in order to receive.
You have to get out of your comfort zone in order for anything to change.
There is plenty of money in the world for you to be as rich as you desire.
You have to do things that scare the shit out of you in order to make real progress.
Your thoughts and our words = your reality.
You have the power to manifest as much money as you need, whenever you need it.
Doing whatever it takes to be happy and successful, even if it means quitting your shit-hole job, is worth it because this is our one and only life.
One of my favorite quotes from, You are a Badass At Making Money, that sticks with me is,
“If I’d put the same amount of time and focus that I put into freaking out about not having money, cutting expenses, finding the deals, haggling, researching, returning, refunding, redeeming, rerouting, rebating, into actually making money, I would have been driving a car with working windshield wipers years before I actually did.”
Jen Sincero
Without reading these books, I don’t know how, or if I would ever come to realize how much control I have over my income and my life. My life post-Jen Sincero has changed in the following ways:
I now find ways to make money to pay for the things I want instead of getting upset that I can't have them.
I have learned to work for myself and stay home with my kids instead of relying on someone to hire me for a full-time job.
I am super stoked for the future and am grateful for the wealth that I will create for myself and my family in the coming years!
Now, go read the damn book!
